| The soils are deep and made up of a mixture of clay and limestone. It is worth noting that this entire zone was in the distant past submerged beneath the Atlantic Ocean. Evidence of this can still be seen in the subsoil today and in the organic matter we find there. |
| The vines are planted using the bilateral Colordon or double guyot training system at a density of 5,200 plants per hectare, with four white Portuguese varieties - Sercial, Arinto, Fernão Pires, and some Rabo de Ovelha, and four red Portuguese varieties - Bastardo, Tinta Miúda, Touriga Nacional, and Camarate. |
